3D Printer + 3D Printing Pen

3D Printer + 3D Printing Pen

To help children fully appreciate the wonder of 3D printing, this activity integrates both an introduction to how 3D printers work and hands-on experience with 3D printing pens. This combined approach enhances their understanding of the technology while providing an engaging and immersive learning experience.

Screen-free hands-on experience with real-world technology

Screen-free hands-on experience with real-world technology

While screen-free, the session offers a tech-rich experience where children use 3D pens to build real objects, fostering a strong sense of achievement.

Show Your Parents Your Artworks

Show Your Parents Your Artworks

At the end of each session, children will take home their own creations. This allows parents to see the tangible outcomes of the activity and gain a clearer understanding of the knowledge and experiences their child has gained.

Explore needs or opportunities for designing, and the technologies needed to realise designed solutions.
Make models of three-dimensional objects and describe key features.
Use and experiment with different materials and techniques to make artworks.
Plan a sequence of production steps when making designed solutions.
Explore the use and properties of materials.
Investigate how forces and the properties of materials affect the behaviour of a product or system.

Spatial ability

By designing and building 3D objects, children learn to mentally rotate, combine, and deconstruct shapes.

Creativity & Imagination

Kids can freely design characters, structures, and objects, sparking endless creativity.

Fine Motor Skills

Using 3D pens to draw and assemble requires precision and hand-eye coordination.

Problem-Solving Skills

Children need to think about structural stability, printability, and sequencing—developing logical thinking and practical planning.

STEM Thinking

The process involves scientific principles (e.g. material heating and cooling), mathematical concepts (geometry, scaling), and technology (3D printing mechanics).

Persistence & Patience

Printing a full model may take time and several tries, helping children learn how to iterate, adapt, and stick with a project that they are working on.

Two Instructors per Session

Ensures every child receives individual attention and close supervision throughout the activity.

Pre-Activity Safety Briefing

Clear instructions are provided before the session to ensure safe and confident use of all tools.

Low-Temperature Materials (PCL)

We use PCL filament, which melts at a low temperature (~60°C), making it safe for children’s use.

Active Supervision and Immediate Support

Instructors closely monitor all activity and provide real-time guidance to prevent any misuse.

Child-Friendly, Cord-Free Tools

Our 3D pens are cordless or battery-operated, minimising tripping hazards and simplifying safe handling.
